“We’re Keeping Our Momentum Going” New American Leaders Action Fund Announces First Endorsements in 2021 Cycle After 2020 Democratic Victories
NEW YORK — After historic engagement from New American and BIPOC communities in the 2020 election, New American Leaders Action Fund is keeping up the momentum by endorsing its first wave of candidates on the ballot in 2021.
“New Americans are one of the fastest growing voting blocs. Last year, we were the key to victory in swing states and helped to strengthen our democracy. Hearing from candidates who share our values, who look like us, up and down the ticket is motivating our communities. But despite our growing political power, we are too often ignored by the political establishment,” said Sara Le Brusq, interim President of New American Leaders Action Fund.
“The 2020 election crystalized our political power in the progressive movement, and we are focused on keeping the momentum going. We’ve taken the future of our democracy into our own hands by organizing, registering new voters, and creating a community-centered movement that values authenticity and inclusive policies over big money or establishment ties,” Le Brusq continued.
“The leaders of this movement are now on the ballot themselves to shake up politics as usual. They are running equitable, community based campaigns in key city council races to meet the everyday needs of those who have been hit hardest by COVID-19, systemic racism, and economic inequality. They have what it takes to serve and change the face of leadership. We couldn’t be prouder to stand behind them and support the revolutionary movement they are leading.”
